Beausejour ready for survival scrap

JEAN Beausejour says he’s confident that his move back up to the Premier League will not prove to be short-lived.
The Chilean arrived at Latics during the January transfer window, having spent six months in the Championship following Birmingham’s relegation at the end of last season.
It may look like he’s jumped from the frying pan into the fire given Wigan’s current predicament, but the tricky winger insists he will not be accepting a second relegation in the space of 12 months without a fight.
“I feel happy since arriving at Wigan and I’m very confident about the rest of the season,” Beausejour told the Evening Post.
“The feeling around the club is good, very positive, and I firmly believe the future of the club is bright.
“And if we can start Saturday’s game at Bolton the same way we finished the Everton game, I think we have a big chance of getting a win – which would move us closer to safety.”
Roberto Martinez twice failed to land Beausejour before making it third time lucky last month, and the World Cup star is determined to repay the Spaniard’s faith by inspiring his new side to stave off relegation.
Beausejour made a good start by laying on Wigan’s goal at the weekend although, as he readily admits, it owed as much to Phil Neville’s inadvertent flick and Tim Howard’s uncharacteristic gaffe as the quality of the cross.
“I got lucky,” Beausejour smiled. “It wasn’t my best cross of the game, but it caught a deflection and the goalkeeper came up with a ‘blooper’.
“I was generally pleased with my crosses, though. It is my main line of work and Roberto has told me he needs me to put as many in as possible.
“To be honest, I thought the whole team played well against Everton, but that’s no good if we don’t win.
“Consistency is what we are all aiming towards, and hopefully that will come.”
Beausejour is also refusing to take too much notice of the league table, preferring instead to focus on Saturday’s trip to Bolton.
“For me, for us, it’s very important not to look too much at the league table, and worry about it,” he added.
“The only thing that matters is the next game, it’s always the most important one.”

Wednesday, February 8, 2012 at 08:22 PMTotally agree with both comments, he can get past the defender run down the wing and cross the ball but whats the point when he is playin one up front who cant keep up with the play and the midfielders are never near the box to help the striker. Come on RM time to forget about the fancy play and start to get goals n point, lose to bolton then we are doomed.
