Chelsea 4 Wigan Athletic 1
Wigan Athletic's James McCarthy (left) and Chelsea's Oscar (right) battle for the ball
TWO goals in the last four minutes of the match gave Chelsea a somewhat flattering victory margin over a Latics side who were on top for long spells.
The home side had deservedly led through Ramires and Eden Hazard.
But Shaun Maloney pulled one back just before the hour mark, and the visitors enjoyed a very good spell of possession.
Latics had a great shout for a penalty when Ronnie Stam’s shot struck the arm of Ashley Cole, with referee Mike Dean waving play on.
And Chelsea took full advantage with late strikes from Frank Lampard and substitute Marko Marin giving the scoreline a slightly lop-sided look.
