FRANCO di Santo says Wigan Athletic will float into the West Brom game tomorrow on an air of confidence after back-to-back Premier League victories.

Latics welcome the Baggies to the DW having lifted themselves into the relative safety of mid-table after inflicting capital punishment on West Ham and Tottenham.

And Di Santo, whose fine form has seen him called up to the Argentina squad, admits they’ll be going all-out to extend that sequence further.

“The squad is full of confidence after the win at Tottenham and we aim to continue on the same track against West Brom,” he told the Evening Post.

“That’s two wins in a row in the league now, and the challenge for us us is obviously to keep that going as long as possible.

“Three, four, five matches, that would be nice, but all we can do is concentrate on the performance and hopefully the result will follow.”

Di Santo believes the side’s recent performances – coupled with their form at the end of last term – show they belong in the top half rather than the bottom.

“We don’t want to be fighting against the drop again, and the way we’ve played in the last two games shows we shouldn’t be down there,” he added.

“The last two matches, like the last nine games of last season, is the standard we should be aiming for.

“We have played like a team, like we know we can, and you have seen what has happened. We can beat the top teams as well as the teams at the bottom.

“Always when you are on a good run, confidence is high, and that will allow us to go in to the West Brom game with great confidence.

“We know three points takes us in to the top half of the table, and that will be a big incentive for us going in to the game.”
