French ace would love to play for England
French flier Charles N'Zogbia admits he would 'definitely say yes' if Fabio Capello offered him a place in England's World Cup squad.
N'Zogbia – who has recently qualified to play for the Three Lions after residing here since 2004 – is hoping his fine form this term has alerted Capello.
And, speaking exclusively to the Observer, he said: "I have been here for so long now I consider myself to be both French and English.
"I would definitely say 'yes' if England asked me. And I would be very happy to do so."
The 23-year-old was not selected for this week's friendly with Egypt at Wembley, but has 11 Premier League matches between now and the end of the season to propel himself into the reckoning.
N'Zogbia, who started his career with Le Havre before joining Newcastle in 2004, won 13 caps for France Under-21s.
But despite establishing himself as one of the trickiest widemen in the English game, N'Zogbia has so far been ignored by Les Bleus coach Raymond Domenech – leaving the door open for England.
He added: "I'm just waiting now to see what is going to happen.
"But I have been here for more than five years and I'm very happy here.
"I love English football and English life, and I have many friends here. It would be a big honour in my life, and I would be happy to do that if selected.
"I have spoken to my family about this and they all want the best for my career. And I would do my best to play for England."
