Goals please Marcelo

This is the striking star Wigan Athletic hope will fire them away from the lower reaches of the Premier League table.

Marcelo Moreno became the fifth and final arrival during the January transfer window when he put pen to paper last night (Monday) on a six-month loan deal from Shakhtar Donetsk.

The Bolivia international is still waiting on a visa and international

clearance, but hopes to make his debut in Saturday's crucial Premier League clash at Sunderland.

Roberto Martinez swooped for Moreno and Victor Moses in a

hectic final 24 hours of business, and the Wigan boss admits he is delighted with the added firepower now at his disposal.

"We knew we needed more competition in the forward area, and now we have Victor Moses and Marcelo Moreno," Martinez said.

"Shakhtar paid nine million Euros for Marcelo only 18 months ago, which shows you how highly he is regarded, and he has all the ingredients to become a big player in this country."
