And when the teams clashed in the FA Cup at the start of last year, Bogdan kept a clean sheet.

The 28-year-old has slipped to third choice keeper at Liverpool and he could provide strong competition for fan favourite Jussi Jaaskelainen and Lee Nicholls between the sticks if a move to Wigan came to fruition.

Bogdan said: “The goal is to get loaned out. I could stay but I would need incredible luck or a lot of injuries to climb the ladder.”
