Pollitt's Wigan exit confirmed after 11 years at club

Mike Pollitt has followed Gary Caldwell out of the Wigan Athletic exit door.

He joined Latics in summer 2005 ahead of their maiden Premier League campaign and retired from playing two years ago to take a coaching role at the club.

His departure, along with chief scout Malcolm Crosby, were confirmed by Latics tonight.

As chairman David Sharpe hunts for Caldwell’s successor, the club has confirmed plans for Saturday’s trip to Cardiff.

Assistant manager Graham Barrow and Development Squad Manager Peter Atherton, assisted by First Team Coach Joe Parkinson, will take charge of the team.

Barrow, Atherton and Parkinson took training this morning and will carry on in that role until further notice.
