ANGELO Henriquez has revealed the prospect of Championship football wouldn’t put him off returning to Wigan Athletic next season.

The striker, who joined on loan from Manchester United in January, found game time hard to come by at the DW Stadium.

Despite that though, the Chilean says he got a lot out of his time at the club and wouldn’t rule out a return next season.

“I didn’t play a lot of football, which was obviously the target when I arrived in January,” he said.

“But just being involved with a Premier League team, living the experience of first-team football, and learning from other players and other teams has been very good.

“I have made a lot of friends here, both the ones from South America, and the British ones, and in that respect it has been fantastic.

“I have enjoyed my time here and I wouldn’t rule out coming here again if that is a possibility. Who knows?”

Henrqiuez’s only goal for the Latics came on his Premier League debut in a 3-2 defeat to Sunderland.

The 19-year-old has made a few appearances from the bench since – including the FA Cup semi-final against Millwall at Wembley – and reckons he has made progress.

“You always improve and pick up new things from new managers and new players,” he added.

“That was the point of the whole exercise, and I hope to show what I’ve learned when I return to Old Trafford.”
