Martinez - AVB has nothing to prove
Roberto Martinez
ROBERTO Martinez reckons the man in the opposite dugout today has absolutely nothing to prove at Spurs.
André Villas-Boas was sensationally axed as Chelsea boss last season before taking up the job at White Hart Lane in the summer.
Questions were asked about his Stamford Bridge appointment but Martinez says he has already proven to be a top manager,
“The success he had at Porto was incredible,” said the Latics boss.
“He beat every previous record and that speaks a lot about a young manager.
“I do feel that under Villas-Boas, Spurs will be very successful in the Premier League.
“You need time to get the players and know what you want and to develop a certain way.”
That said, Martinez does think his side has what it takes to turn Spurs over.
He added: “We know what level we need to be at to get a positive result and that’s what we’ll look for.”
