Rooney may face Wigan
Manchester United could press Wayne Rooney back into service earlier than planned.
Rather than keep hime under wraps for the Champions League final on May 21, Red Devils boss Sir Alex Ferguson has declared he will attempt to get the England No.9 fit for the last Premier League match.
Rooney has been sidelined with a mystery hip injury, also sparking scare stories about a possible hernia complaint, since the Blackburn match on April 19. He aggravated it further while scoring in the defeat to Chelsea and has been forced to sit out the last two games – the Champions League semi-final against Barcelona and Saturday's 4-1 win against West Ham.
But Nemanja Vidic could be back in the line-up at Wigan after having to sit out a mandatory 10-day FA break after his concussion at Stamford Bridge.
Meanwhile, South Korea have promised they will not overwork Manchester United's Park Ji-Sung at this year's Beijing Olympics.
The Koreans plan to call the United midfielder up for the August 8-24 Games but the player's progress in China is likely to be closely monitored by his club.
"Of course we need to think about the possibilities of overworking Park," South Korea coach Park Sung-Hwa said.
"But by May the leagues will be over in Europe so there should not be too much of a problem in him joining the team."
Korean officials have yet to indicate who will join 27-year-old Park as the two other permitted over-age players for the Under-23 Olympic
tournament.
South Korea have been drawn alongside Cameroon, Honduras and Italy in Group D.
