Shock exit for Diame

MOMO Diame will be on his way back to Wigan sooner than expected after Senegal crashed out of the African Nations Cup at the first hurdle.

The Lions of Teranga - one of the pre-tournament favourites - lost 2-1 to Equatorial Guinea last night, after being embarrassed by the same score in their opening game against Zambia.

That means Senegal can no longer make the knockout stages of the competition, and that Diame will be jetting back to England after Sunday’s final group game against Libya.

Diame, who won his seventh cap against Equatorial Guinea, has an outside chance of involvement in Tuesday night’s game at Tottenham, although the home game against Everton the following Saturday is a more realistic target.

Had Senegal gone all the way to the final, the 24-year-old would have been out of Roberto Martinez’s plans until the end of February.

You should come down to Latics one game and check out the packed stadium, with thousands locked out, we can't accomodate all the Wigan based Utd and Liverpool fans..............oh wait, that's not the case at all.
