DAVE Whelan says he’s more positive than ever that Roberto Martinez will be staying with Wigan Athletic.
The Latics manager met the chairman again today to discuss the future.
Despite reported interest from Everton, Stoke and Malaga, Whelan insists no other club was mentioned other than Latics.
Martinez was seeking reassurances about the development of the training ground and the club’s youth policy, leading Whelan to believe he’s not thinking of jumping ship.
“All of the meetings we’ve had have been positive, but I thought this latest meeting was very positive,” Whelan told the Evening Post.
“Not one other club was mentioned in any of the meetings we’ve had.
“I think all Roberto wants to establish is that we are continuing to push Wigan Athletic forward to where we want to be.
“I am more hopeful than I was two or three days ago that Roberto will be staying.”
