Jordi Gomez takes a penalty and scores from the rebound

WIGAN Athletic face an FA Cup third-round replay on the south coast after being held by the League One outfit.

The Cherries had led at the break after Eunan O’Kane cracked a beauty past Mike Pollitt from 25 yards.

But Latics received a lifeline at the three-quarter mark when Maynor Figueroa was fouled inside the area by Simon Francis.

Jordi Gomez’s spot-kick was saved by Shwan Jalal, but the Spaniard reacted quickest to fire home the rebound.

Figueroa and half-time substitute Angelo Henriquez had earlier hit the bar, but Bournemouth more than deserved their second bite at the cherry.

Latics: Pollitt; Boyce, Golobart, Figueroa; Stam, Fyvie, Jones, Redmond; .Gomez, McManaman, Boselli.

Subs: Al Habsi, Campabadal, Kiernan, McArthur (for Jones, 78), Espinoza, Dicko (for Fyvie, 78), Henrique (for Redmond, 46).

Bournemouth: Jalal; Francis, Elphick, Cook, Daniels; McQuoid, Arter, O’Kane, Hughes, Pugh; Tubbs.

Subs: James, Partington (for Tubbs, 66), Fogden, Demouge, McDermott, Fletcher, Pitman (for McQuoid, 88).

Star Man: Roman Golobart
