Barrett hangs boots up
Trent Barrett a few seasons ago playing for Warriors
FORMER Wigan stand-off Trent Barrett brought the curtain down on his glittering playing career at the weekend – and is now set for a move into coaching.
The Cronulla ace has decided to hang up his boots, despite offers to continue.
He has already signalled his intention to remain in the game in a coaching capacity after agreeing to become a specialist half-back coach with the Sharks next season.
The former Kangaroos international joined Cronulla from Wigan two years ago.
He had two hugely successful seasons with the Warriors, winning the Super League players’ player of the year trophy after his debut campaign, and was hailed as one of the club’s best imports since Brett Kenny.
Barrett, who played for New South Wales in State of Origin this year, has also has arranged work with the NRL and Country Rugby League.
He said: “There’s been so many highlights over the years, I couldn’t pick one.’’
