He has watched footage of the Huddersfield halfback’s tactical kicking masterclass in their 11-0 win against Warrington last Friday night.

Beaten coach Tony Smith said Brough “kicked us to death” and Wane is keen to ensure they don’t suffer the same fate.

He is banking on his players to pressure the Scotland international, and has confidence Dan Sarginson – covering the No.1 role until Sam Tomkins is fit – and his wingers can limit the amount of damage he can wreak.

Wane said: “Danny has a great kicking game and he’s been outstanding.

“He’s looking like he’s gripping games, he’s dangerous and he’s looking like Danny Brough of old.

“The middles are running hard and they have huge men.

“But Danny Brough is the man, he’s the one who is pushing the buttons, and that’s our challenge. I’m a big admirer of his, he’s a competitor.

“We’ll need to really look out for him.”
