JOSH Charnley hopes his form this season is good enough to crack onto the international stage ... even if he has to wait until next year to play for England.

The 20-year-old scorched over for a staggering 27 tries in just 32 appearances last term, and was a surprise omission from Steve McNamara’s Four Nations squad.

Instead, he played for the second-string – England Knights – at the end of the of the season.

Now firmly established in the Warriors starting line-up, Charnley has set breaking into the Test arena as his next ambition.

England will again face the Exiles – Super League’s best overseas stars – in mid-season but as yet have no end-of-season fixtures arranged, with Australia and New Zealand both keen to have a break ahead of the World Cup in 2013.

Charnley said: “I’d like to get into the Test side – that has to be my goal now. It was good playing for the Knights but that’s the next step for me, playing for England.

“I’m not sure what they’re doing this year, whether they’ve got games or not, but all I can do is look at my own form. So I’m just concentrating on knuckling down for Wigan and hopefully the rest will look after itself.”

The Chorley-born flyer can not wait for Sunday’s Super League opener against Huddersfield at the DW.

“Everyone’s really excited,” he said. “We’ve all worked hard in training, now we’re ready for it to begin again.”

WIGAN’S game at Catalan on Saturday, June 9 will again take place at Montpellier (kick-off 6pm French time).

The match is being staged at ‘La Mosson’ football stadium – last year’s fixture was at the town’s rugby union ground.

Warriors are running two official fans trips, priced from £449.
