The former fans’ favourite has joined Maguire’s Souths as an assistant coach.

He was also Man of Steel under Maguire’s tenure.

The goal-kicking ace, 34, spent last season with Catalans, but his campaign was cut short by injury and he returned to Australia to start his coaching career.

Maguire said: “I had the opportunity to coach Pat at Wigan and the professionalism that he displayed there and throughout his career has shaped him into a leading figure in rugby league.

“Pat will be a huge addition to the Rabbitohs coaching staff.

“He brings with him a wealth of experience in gaining success in the NRL and Super League and the knowledge he’ll bring to our club will help shape our youth squad as they progress here.
