Noble heaps praise on Warriors

Brian Noble heaped praise on his players after they ended a turbulent week by climbing back into the play-off spots with a 36-28 win at Hull KR.

Days after renewed speculation over the coach's future and Gareth Hock's suspension for failing a drugs test – and two weeks after a shock defeat against Celtic Crusaders – Warriors finally gave their fans something to smile about.

Pat Richards finished with a personal haul of 16-points from two tries and four goals to deny third-placed Robins the satisfaction of completing a double over Wigan.

But Noble's troops had to fight back from 10-0 down after a nightmare start in which they conceded two tries in seven minutes.

Noble said: "The players found a formula.

"The only way we'll be judged on writing this 2009 chapter for the club is through our performances on the field.

"And I think we took some huge steps in making people realise we aren't going to go away."

Richards' second try ended fears that Hull KR may have snatched a win after closing the gap to 30-28 in the dying stages of last night's match.

Noble added: "It was a nervy finish and it shouldn't have been.

"We gave ourselves a shocking start and found ourselves 10-0 down and it looked like being one of those nights, but we knew pretty much all week that we were determined to do well here.

"I knew that if we could get our fingers into the game we could compete and we did and we clawed our way back into the game and it should have been more comfortable at 60 minutes.

"And then we went away from what we were doing and let Hull KR back in."

Hull KR coach Justin

Morgan said Wigan played with 'more vigour and more energy' than his side.

Australian stand-off Tim Smith left the field early in the game suffering a dislocated shoulder.

He was due to undergo a medical assessment today to determine how long

he may be out of action for.

In the curtain-raiser, Shaun Wane's reserves stormed to their 14th win from as many games this year, beating the hosts' second team 28-8.
