Nuuausala to miss Cup semi-final

The mid-season signing from the NRL’s Canberra Raiders received a one match ban and a £300 fine after being brought before the RFL Disciplinary on a Grade A charge of punching.

Nuuausala didn’t have the option of an early guilty plea available to him, which would have meant he would sidestep a ban, and pleaded not guilty to the charge for his part in the 75th-minute set-to with Louie McCarthy-Scarsbrook, which resulted in the pair being sent to the sin bin.

Nuuausala was also cautioned for pulling McCarthy-Scarsbrook’s hair.

The ban gives coach Shaun Wane a further headache ahead of the semi-final.

He was missing seven first choice stars for last weekend’s loss to St Helens, and is only expecting Taulima Tautai, who was serving a one-match suspension, back for this week.
