But the way we kept them out, especially in the opening 20 minutes, I think it frustrated them and eventually they folded. To come away from Catalans with a 26-6 win is some effort.

The lads went there to do a job and they showed a lot of character, and no shortage of quality in attack, especially in the opening half.

Ryan Sutton again played in the second-row and he’s taken to the move really well.

When he first moved there, I spoke to him and he seemed a bit nervous about it. Now he’s throwing cut-out passes and setting up tries!

Defending in the middle is more physical and tiring but on an edge, you are more vulnerable – you really need to think and communicate, and that’s the biggest challenge. And Ryan has taken that on really well.

We seem to be coming into some good form as we approach the split for the Super-8s. It’s Wakefield this Friday, and while I don’t think anyone expects a repeat of our last meeting – the 62-0 drubbing in April – we won’t be taking them lightly.

I didn’t play in the last match but I went along, and we were really disrupted by injuries and illnesses.

Waney didn’t even review it afterwards – we just drew a line under it – so I can’t imagine it playing a part in our prep’ this week.

They have some classy players, and Chris Chester has done a terrific job there – they’ve long been a side who are tough to beat at their place, and now they’ve picked up some good results on the road, too.

The league table took a twist with the weekend results, with Hull FC and Warrington both failing to win, and the fact we beat Catalans allowed St Helens to make up some ground on the top four.

But of course the interesting development was at the bottom, with Leeds condemned to the Qualifiers – or ‘middle-8s’ – with three games to go before the split.

One thing is for sure – it’s going to make that division must-see watching!

I’m still recovering from rib surgery. I’ve had a few days at home – I’m not going to lie, I’m getting bored! There are only so many box-sets you can watch (though I do recommend Billions)!

I’m hoping to be back in training soon and the timeframe for my comeback is promising, with the first week in August pencilled in. Fingers crossed.

Tommy Leuluai will be a great addition to our squad.

I’m really chuffed he’s coming back, he was a big player for us when he left and he’ll bring even more experience to us next season.

He can play half-back and hooker to the highest level, and his return will really add some depth and quality.

As one comes in, we say farewell to Greg Burke.

I’ve some similarities with Greg – we’re both forwards, we both went to the same school – and I know how much playing for Wigan has meant to him.

That said, he’s got a great opportunity at Widnes to establish himself.

My brother Connor has spent time there on loan, and he speaks really highly of the set-up.

Greg’s a great fella – very knowledgeable, very old-school with some of his tastes – and one of the nicest lads I’ve met. He never has a bad word for anyone. I wish him all the best.
