Warriors trio join world’s top stars

Wigan's Sam Tomkins win the 2012 Man of Steel and has been named among the best in the world

THREE Warriors have been named among the sport’s elite in new international ratings revealed today.

Sam Tomkins and Sean O’Loughlin are ranked the second-best in their positions in the World XIII listings.

And winger Josh Charnley has also propelled into the sport’s top five wingers, published by Rugby League World (below) – the same magazine which presents the annual Golden Boot award.

The ratings are voted for by an exclusive panel of experts and journalists from England and Down Under.

Tomkins misses out on a place at full-back in the coveted World XIII to Kangaroos and Melbourne No.1 Billy Slater.

And Warriors skipper O’Loughlin is second in the No.13 category to Cronulla and Australia forward Paul Gallen.

Charnley, Super League’s leading try-scorer last term, is ranked the sport’s fourth best winger.

Only one Super League-based player – Leeds winger Ryan Hall – is included in the World XIII.

But there are places for two other England internationals, with NRL forwards James Graham and Sam Burgess making the fictitious line-up.

Rugby League World will announce on Monday a six-man shortlist for the Golden Boot as the world’s best player which includes two Super League players – thought to be Man of Steel Tomkins and Hall.
