We must keep cool, says Roberts

Amos Roberts – Warriors' matchwinner at Harlequins earlier this season – has challenged his team-mates to keep their cool when the London outfit roll into town tomorrow.

The Australian winger hailed Wigan's composure as being crucial to their nail-biting 36-28 victory against Hull KR last Sunday.

And he says the players are determined to claim victory tomorrow to keep their place in the play-off spots.

Roberts said: "We all know we've the potential to be a great team. We never panicked at Hull KR, even when we went 10-0 down, and that's what we've got to keep on doing.

"We showed the character in the side. We're concentrating on doing the little things right, cutting out the mistakes and keeping our composure."

Eighth-placed Wigan will move up a spot, for a day at least, if they beat Brian McDermott's men – Warrington, who are currently in seventh, travel to Celtic on Saturday.

Roberts added: "The table can look a bit misleading as it's so tight, there's only four points between fifth and 10th.

"But it's important we pick up some points and keep up there in the mix."

The former Sydney Roosters flier grabbed the match-clinching try in March at The Stoop when he intercepted a pass to provide a 24-18 victory that ended a three-match losing start to the year.

Tomorrow night's match is the first at the JJB Stadium in four weeks following pitch maintenance work.

Chairman Ian Lenagan said: "It's nice to be back at home.

"We've some difficult games over the coming weeks, it's an important time for us, and I hope the fans come and support the guys against Harlequins.

"It was nice to see them travel so strongly to Hull KR, and I think that win went some way to redeeming the loss at Celtic in the previous match."

Lenagan was chairman of Harlequins before taking over at Wigan 18 months ago and added: "Harlequins is never the easiest of games for me.

"They are going well this year but they've got injuries right now, the absence of Luke Dorn and Rob Purdham especially are big losses for them."

As expected, Australian playmaker Tim Smith has been left out of Brian Noble's 19-man squad after dislocating his shoulder at Craven Park.

Mark Flanagan, who made his debut against Celtic, replaces him in the provisional squad that will be cut down to 17 tomorrow.

Warriors (from): Roberts, Carmont, Richards, Leuluai, Fielden, Riddell, Paleaaesina, Bailey, O'Loughlin, J Tomkins, Coley, Hansen, McIlorum, Prescott, Pryce, Phelps, Gleeson, S Tomkins, Flanagan.

Harlequins: from Clubb, Gafa, Gale, Gardner, Haggerty, Heckenberg, Howell, McCarthy-Scarsbrook, Melling, O'Callaghan, Orr, Randall, Robinson, Sharp, Skee, Temata, Ward, Wells, Williamson.
