'Magic' at Murrayfield

The RFL has confirmed Cardiff is no more and that the 'magic' weekend will be staged at Edinburgh's Murrayfield Stadium next year.
The event – a full weekend of Super League fixtures to be played in the Scottish capital over one weekend – will be staged on May 2 and 3.
Warriors' captain Sean O'Loughlin said: "We are delighted to be heading up to Murrayfield.
"The stadium has great memories for Wigan as we won the Challenge Cup final there in 2002."

Just cancelled the hotel booking for Cardiff. Will not be going to Edinburgh, the stadium is just too far from town.

thought the idea was to "spread the word" int wales a better option as theres rumour of maybe a team from wales joining SL. why not play at the falklands or jersey. maybe isle of man or zimbabwe...absolutely clueless and pointless waste of suuporters time and money.

And what fun it will be if it rains all weekend! No roof, 7 games on a wet pitch would be interesting as would the one hour walk to Edinburgh centre.

The "heartlands" have had 110+ years to "develop", and the game isn't what it used to be anymore. If the people of Featherstone, Batley, Blackpool etc wanted to watch the game then there are already opportunities, but the crowd figures suggest they don't. Meanwhile, we've got a wonderful sport which is family-friendly and offers superb value for money that much of the country doesn't know about because of the media-bias outside the "heartlands". So I'm all for staging events like this somewhere new, get the attention of the public in areas that think rugby league is still about fans working down the mines wearing their flat caps, and try to attract a new, bigger audience. I enjoyed Edinburgh back in 2002, although I suppose the result helped, but I'm hoping it'll be a great event, and that for once I might even be able to get the weekend off work to actually go...
