Liam Colbon looks set to leave Wigan at the end of the season.
The Warriors winger is being targeted by Hull KR for next year.
Super League clubs are now allowed to approach players after the 'anti-tampering' deadline expired yesterday and Colbon is reported to be one of three new players on a Rovers hit-list.

The 23-year-old is off contract at the JJB Stadium at the end of this summer and has not been offered new terms.
It is believed that Colbon will be lured by a two-year deal from Hull KR boss Justin Morgan, who is also being linked with St Helens prop Nick Fozzard. Colbon, a former Hindley amateur, has featured in all of Wigan's 29 games so far this season and has scored 10 tries.

But Warriors are ready to let him go to Craven Park after offering extended deals to fellow threequarters Cameron Phelps and Richard Mathers.

Morgan said: "If Liam Colbon is available after September 1, then we would be interested in him.
"There are no more overseas players coming in, but there are two fairly experienced Super League players looking for an opportunity."

Wigan will also not stand in the way of Mark Calderwood who is expected to join Colbon at Hull KR, while Warrington's bid to take
hooker Micky Higham on board for 2009 and beyond is thought to be close to fruition.

Wigan chairman Ian Lenagan has said that the recruitment of a winger is high on his priority list.

3 UK players on their way out... Any bets that we get 3 more cheap NRL players to replace them?
Its becoming clear that IL has big profits in mind rather than a quality genuine Wigan team.

To be fair to Wigan, they have let better homegrown players go. Colborn is not good enough and am suprised Hull KR want him.

Its not who is going that bothers me, all 3 have failed to make the grade; its who is likely to be imported to replace them, its already confirmed that Piggy Riddell is on his way, which 2 next? More players not good enough for the NRL?

Lets hope they give ainscough and others from the youth set up a chance to make the wing spot theirs before they buy in an aussie.

IL has said he wants a winger and an enforcer prop, he has also been chasing carney who is a stand off. Does he know what he wants or does he just chase anyone in aus with a problem.

If they are going to buy Wigan could do with a winger with some size who can get the forwards on the front foot straight away from the first scoot. Our back line always looks out muscled by saints and leeds.

f they are chasing carvell then lets hope he spends less time on the sidelines with injuries than he has for the past few seasons.

Philaway - don't forget they only have room for one more overseas player, so the options are to promote from within or recruit a british player. Regarding your reference to failed overseas players are you referring to Smith and Phelps or are you casting the net wider to include Barrett an Richards? As for IL making big profits, you can't do that without a successful side and at Wigan you also need a team playing attractive rugby - so I think we can discount that theory. The problem at Wigan is still the salary cap - we have a small number of players receiving the bulk of the money - currently six players receive half of the cap between them! That obviously needs to change but it can only happen when the players come off contract. We need to introduce a more sensible wage structure with winning bonuses attached, when we do, then we may be in a position to sign the Gidley's and Webb's of this world rather than Phelps and Co.

Shaun...
Carmont, Smith, Phelps, Bailey and new lad Riddell should never have been signed, TB should have been sent back to Oz months ago (3 or 4 decent performances from him this season?) when he asked to curtail his contract; Feka may be OK, if he can lose another 10kgs and learn how to defend (Fielden and others spend so much time covering for him in defence); Leulai is getting stronger and plays better without TB; Richards is exceptional now that he is playing wing or fullback. So for me, Lulu and Pat are the only ones worth having. Luckily Shuddersfield have signed Carney: banned from NRL until 2010 but wanted by IL!
If 14,000 people regularly turn up to watch the dross on the pitch, then IL can have a mediocre team and make a packet.
