Paul Deacon has completed a dream move to hometown club Wigan and tells wigantoday.net how a burning desire to play for the cherry and whites has been with him since childhood.
He will combine his playing duties with a coaching role on Michael Maguire's staff.

Deacon said: "I've always wanted to pull on the cherry and white jersey and the reponse I've got from people in the town has been tremendous.

"Living here all my life and being a massive supporter as a kid, there's always been something burning inside of me to play for Wigan."

10 years ago this would have been a good signing for Wigan.

Wigan need cover in the half backs as relying on Tommy and Sam to stay fit all season is not smart. Deacon is one of the best tactical and skill players of superleague era who although coming to the end of his career is definatly not past it. To be able to sign a player like deacon as a coach and as a backup is not easy.

Our 3 half backs are a world cup winner and current international, the young player of the year and current international, ex intenational and superleague era legend.

Wire have a drunk, a hooker and sam tomkins backup

It is still a good signing Ste - you need to look at the bigger picture.

You are very welcome Deacs - we need more players who are proud to wear the cherry and white - hope you enjoy your move to us

newsflash !!
the RFL have changed the format yet again for the new season.
the play offs will include the top 13 finishers in the hope that warrington can have a change of making it.however a spokesman for the RFL quoted its highly unlikely as their team is full of dinasaurs and they have no youth policy due to lack of talent in the warrington area.

Wigan don't need to sign 20 year old current internationals, we develop our own to go with our 24-year old current World Cup winning international halfback...
