Hansen so determined
Harrison Hansen is determined Wigan will get back on track tonight.
The back-row forward has revealed the players were read the riot act after their shocking defeat to St Helens.
He admitted that watching the tape of the half-century defeat in Cardiff had the players squirming in their seats as stern-faced coach Brian Noble pointed out the catalogue of errors.
Now Hansen has pledged to put matters right against Whitehaven in the fifth-round Challenge Cup tie at the JJB Stadium tonight (kick-off 7.30pm).
He said: "We only watched the first half of the Saints game and that was enough.
"Brian read us the riot act and told us that we have to respond, to play like a team, not individuals pulling in different directions."
Hansen, who is the only current player to have lined up against Whitehaven when the sides met in 2005, has warned against any complacency despite Warriors beating Pia 74-4 in the last round.
He said: "Whitehaven are going to be 10 times better than Pia. I know some of their Kiwis and they're useful guys."
Whitehaven coach Ged Stokes is without Leroy Joe and David Fatialofa who both suffered broken arms in last Monday's Bank Holiday 28-16 win over Leigh at Hilton Park.
Hooker Carl Sice fractured a bone in his hand, and recent signings Andy
Gorski and Tane Manihera are cup-tied.
Despite these setbacks, Stokes remains upbeat though and reckons he will still be able to field a strong side this evening.
He said: "It makes things easier for us as the reserve grade is going so well."
Warriors will know who will be their quarter-final opponents – should they go on to win – before tonight's game starts, as the draw takes place at 6.45pm.
Noble said: "I really won't want to know what the draw is, but I bet somebody tells me."
Warriors have confirmed the home Super League game with Huddersfield on Friday, June 6, has now been postponed due to work on the JJB pitch. A new date will be announced soon.
The club have now received final confirmation that extensive pitch renovations will start immediately after the home game with
Warrington on Friday.
They are scheduled to take up to six weeks to complete, ready for the next scheduled home game against Harlequins on Friday, June 27.
Should Warriors win tonight and be drawn at home in the quarter-finals, further decision will have to be made for an alternative venue for that fixture.
