Prop Eamon O'Carroll has signed a new three-year deal with Wigan.
The 21-year-old was out of contract at the end of this season.

But Warriors chairman Ian Lenagan has continued his squad building plans by securing his services.

O'Carroll has signed until the end of 2011, though the final year is an option in Wigan's favour.

Lenagan said: "He is the latest of our talented young players to commit his future to the club."

O'Carroll, who is hoping to represent Ireland in the World Cup later this year, said: "I am delighted a new contract has been agreed. I really enjoy playing for Wigan.

"I feel I am learning all the time off the experienced players around me."

It's presumably only a "suprise" (someone didn't go to English class today) Ste because you obviously haven't taken much notice of Wigan over the years. There has never been a time that I can remember when a good percentage of the Wigan team wasn't made up of young homegrown players. Yes, we do release quite a few, but that's only really because we generate so many youngsters that we can't give them all first-team opportunities. Of all the young Wigan-grown players released in recent years, there are not too many that have really gone onto bigger, better things, and very few that I was sad to lose. For every Shaun Briscoe, there have been several Ricky Bibey's who would never have had long careers in the Cherry and White. I don't see you complaining about circumstances that have meant your team benefitting from having Jon Clarke and Paul Johnson playing for you instead of us. I seem to recall that Clarky was replaced by one Terry Newton who was from the town of Wigan...

Stephanie, Wigan's team V Quins last week......
Wigan Warriors: Pat Richards, Liam Colbon, George Carmont, Darrell Goulding, Mark Calderwood, Trent Barrett, Thomas Leuluai, Stuart Fielden, Mick Higham, Andy Coley, Gareth Hock, Harrison Hansen, Joel Tomkins
Subs: Cameron Phelps, Iafeta Paleaaesina, Eamon O'Carroll, Lee Mossop

7 yes 7 WIGANERS in that squad

Your team V Hull at the weekend.....

Wolves
Chris Hicks, Chris Riley, Simon Grix, Matt King, Kevin Penny, Lee Briers, Michael Monaghan, Rob Parker (Mike Cooper, 24 mins), Jon Clarke, Paul Rauhihi (Adrian Morley, 18 mins), Louis Anderson, Matty Blythe (Ben Westwood, 24 mins), Ben Harrison (Martin Gleeson, 33 mins).

You had 5 lads who came through as youngsters, NOT all Warrington lads(in fact i count 2) but ill say they are all a product of Wire just so asto not embarass you.

Now run along and mind you don't fall over that tail between your legs!!

Replacements
Martin Gleeson, Mike Cooper, Adrian Morley, Ben Westwood
