Wigan Warriors were hammered 52-16 by a rampant Leeds Rhinos side in their final home game of the season.
The Rhinos ran in five tries in the second-half - including three in the 10 minutes after the re-start - to end the Warriors' run of three matches without defeat.

Wigan had beaten Leeds twice in Super League already this season.
But the home side were torn apart by Leeds and simply had no match to the master-class that the Yorkshire heavyweights served up.

Richard Mathers, cleared after a red card last week, was involved in early controversy in his first game against his former club when he appeared to accidentally hit Rob Burrow in the face as he kicked out.

Wigan took the lead against the run of play in the seventh minute.

Brent Webb palmed a high-ball back, but Joel Tomkins had the presence
of mind to collect the ball and unleash the supporting Mark Calderwood from within his own half. The video referee took an eternity to award the try, which Cameron Phelps – deputising for the sick Pat Richards – converting to make it 6-0.

Leeds hit back and, after going close through hooker Matt Diskin, they equalised when Brent Webb spun out of George Carmont's tackle to touch down, Kevin Sinfield adding the extras.

And they added another try in the 23rd minute when Luke Burgess touched down a short kick, after Calderwood failed to deal with it behind the in-goal area. Sinfield made it 12-6 to the visitors.

The action continued to swing from end-to-end, and after Carmont dropped the ball over the line, Wigan closed the gap to two points when Mark Calderwood palmed back Tim Smith's hanging cross-field kick to Phelps, who dashed over – but he couldn't convert his own try.

Just as the home side appeared to be finding their rhythm, Leeds hit them for six as Lee Smith took advantage of a Carmont spill to race under the sticks in the 31st minute, Sinfield's goal making it 18-10.

And with a minute to go before the break, Kylie Leulaui powered over for a converted try to make it 24-10 at the interval.

Three Leeds tries early in the second-half ended the game as a contest.

Webb dashed through the defence almost immediately after the restart, Ali Lautiiti collected Jordan Tansey's short ball to cross and then Keith Senior beat Phelps to score, Sinfield's three conversions making it 42-10.

The Warriors appeared stunned, but they battled to restore some pride and were rewarded when Eamon O'Carroll strolled over from close range on the hour. Phelps' goal made it 42-16.

The night belonged to Leeds, though, as Lee Smith grabbed his second try and then youngster Kallum Watkins came off the bench to touch down and cap a miserable night for Wigan.

Wigan: Mathers; Calderwood, Phelps, Carmont, Colbon; Barrett, Leuluai; Fielden, Higham, Paleaaesina, Hansen, Coley, Tomkins. Subs: Prescott, O'Carroll, Mossop, Smith.

Leeds: Webb; Smith, Ablett, Senior, Tansey; McGuire, Burrow; Leuluai, Diskin, Peacock, Ellis, Lauitiiti, Sinfield. Subs: Watkins, Scruton, Worrall, Burgess.

The first half wasn't that bad, but quite a few bad errors gave leeds the lead otherwise I think the game would have been tighter.
Second half heads were down after that first try and then Wigan were Outclassed after that!!

Keep Mickey Higham....he is one of the few that has pride in the shirt for every minute of every game - the team need him and the fans love him - Mr Lenegan DO NOT LET MICKEY GO!!!!!!!!!!!!

I thought a few forward passes went Leeds way in the first half. Otherwise it was a very good display from Leeds and Wigan were very average. I heard Stevo rabbiting on about the momentum rule again. Is there such a rule and if so what is it?

Also put TB on bench and play Smith - TB is just a passer and chip-kicker, he is not up to his 2007 season almost-Man Of Steel best....Tim has done more in his 5 or so matches than TB has done all season....but I will be sad see TB go! But feel he is saving himself for Oz!

I think thats put to bed all hope that Wigan have of finishing fourth. Leeds were in stunning form and Wigan looked like they had given up at one stage. Roll on the play offs, Wire v Wigan at the Halliwell Jones! Yeah!

I think last night showed that there is an enormous gap between Wigan and the quality side that is Leeds. Wigan have little to offer at present and there must be a massive investment in developing young players coming through the ranks rather than busting the salary cap with expensive imports.

we did ok for the first 25 minutes yes, its not rocket science as to why. we had our 3 main props playing together from the start and in the pach we out muscled theem. cant understand nobby doing that surely it would have been better to have o carrol second row. but there we go.
in trust before this game we was chatting and this game had the feeling of a nothing game. everyone feels that mathematically the top 6 will finish in the positions they already are so therefore nothing lost.
leeds however really wanted it last night. you could see that in their body language all over the park.
i think this game will help us and doubt we will lie down when we beat warrington.

Again, a very poor display. Ist 15 mins not bad. Rugby as always been more than 3 men playing. It is a team event and last night I hardly saw any of it. poor tackling, and not fast in the tackle, standing back allowing leeds to play. They were able to off load the ball even in a 5 man tackle. Nothing to play for you say? There should be pride and endevour in every match for the sake of the paying customers. Hope to see an improvement against St Helens. To give trent back the captaincy was poor. He did not deserve it and stuart would have done a better job.

Beaten by a much better team, and beaten in the pack first and foremost they made yards and we didn't and the reason TB hasn't played as well as last year is that he is played too many games this year behind a beaten pack. Playing Coley in second row is a mistake. One I hoped would never be reapeated after the game against saints at the millenium stadium but apparently nobby didn't learn. He isn't fast enough or agile enough to play second row and it means we have a weaker front row so its a double blow. The league table doesn't lie this year there are at least four teams out there who are better than us two of whom are leaps and bounds ahead of us. All this in the papers about getting 4th place has been to distract us from the fact that we are more likely to be 6th. despite the fact that saints will have the league leaders wrapped up by the last game they will want to rub our noses in their challenge cup victory in front of home crowd. And Bradford are more than likely to win their last two and already have a much better points difference.

Hey Jayzn... not ALL the fans like Mickey, some of us think he's enthusiastic, but just runs around like a headless chicken giving away stupid penalties. We need a creative attacking hooker!
