Warriors look set to miss out on controversial Australian half-back Todd Carney.
Huddersfield Giants have emerged as favourites to sign the former Canberra player next season.

The 22-year-old was sacked by Raiders a month ago after a series of alcohol-related off-field incidents and banned from playing in Australia's NRL competition until 2010.

Huddersfield – who will need permission from Super League officials to register Carney – are thought to have secured the player's signature via the medium of incoming coach Nathan Brown, a fellow Australian currently in charge of St George Illawarra.

Brown said: "Todd is a quality player in a key position and is an incredibly exciting signing for Huddersfield.

"There's no question that he is one of the most talented
players in the Australian NRL and because of his age is on the way up rather than on the way down."
