Wigan Warriors had a player sent off for the second week in succession as they went down to Huddersfield Giants 34-4.
Gareth Hock was shown a red card because he touched referee Ian Smith after the official ruled the player was held up as he crossed the line, midway through the second-half.

It came just a week after Mike McIlorum was sent off, against St Helens, which earned him a two-match ban.

This was a woeful display from Wigan in front of their own fans.

The Warriors trailed 18-0 at half-time and let in a further three tries after the break.

Angry fans voiced their disgust at stages throughout the second-half, and when Huddersfield went 30-0 down a chant of 'You're not fit to wear the shirt' echoed around the JJB Stadium.

Wigan managed to get on the scoresheet as Pat Richards touched down Trent Barrett's kick mid-way through the second-half. But the fact that he missed a relatively simple conversion seemed to sum up their night.

This was the Warriors' third defeat in a row following losses to Hull KR and St Helens.

And this struck a huge dent into their play-off credentials, with games against Leeds, Catalans and St Helens before the end of the campaign. Their next match is again at the JJB Stadium next Friday, against Hull FC.

The Giants scored three tries in an opening 40 minutes that the Warriors will want to forget.

Brian Noble's side simply never got going, and a catalogue of errors prevented them from building any sense of momentum.

Wigan included Tim Smith in their side for the first time since he arrived from Australia.

They were already 8-0 down when he came off the bench, after David Hodgson touched down a kick from another ex-Warrior, Luke Robinson.

Paul Whatuira went over after intercepting Gareth Hock's wayward pass and, after a Martin Aspinwall sprint down field, Darrell Griffin grabbed try number three for Huddersfield, with Chris Thorman kicking three from four goals.

Jamaal Lolesi sliced through a minute after the re-start and Ryan Hudson capitalised on a mix-up at the play-the-ball to make it 30-0.

Richards got Wigan on the scoresheet during their best attacking spell of the game, but – after they were reduced to 12-men with Hock's dismissal – Hodgson grabbed his second to make it 34-4.

Wigan: Richards; Colbon, Goulding, Carmont, Phelps; Barrett, Leuluai; Fielden, Higham, Coley, Bailey, Hock, Tomkins. Subs: Paleaaesina, Hansen, O'Carroll, Smith.

Huddersfield: Cudjoe; Aspinwall, Brown, Whatuira, Hodgson; Thorman, Robinson; Mason, Hudson, Raleigh, Lolesi, Wild, Kirmond. Subs: Jones, Snitch, Jackson, Griffin.

As I said after the Saints game my season ticket has been put to one side and will not be used or renewed until the coach and several players have gone.

No doubt I will be castigated for not being LOYAL but I am certainly ancient and since 1963 have never once stayed away.

I wasn't there... who played well for Wigan?
The NL match on Sky was very good!

The answer to that question philaway is not one player played well!! After less than 50 minutes the entire stadium booed and chanted that they weren't fit to wear the shirt. I have been going to Wigan games for over 15 years and have never experienced this. Amazingly it made no difference whatsoever, they continued to play like they couldn't care less.

Every single player on that field should be embarrased, I know I was!! To lose against Saints was one thing - at least they are top of the table, but to lose against Huddersfield just goes to show where this is team is heading now.

We spent the entire game moving the defensive line 2 metres and giving them an easy 10-15 metres every tackle. They men in charge at Wigan need to know that we are not a bash n hope team and Nobby is ruinin the side tryin to play that way.

We need a huge clear out there are far too many players wasting precious salary cap. I have never actually considered not renewing my season ticket until now.

Well here we go again. The team really are not up to it.We are not in the same league as Leeds and Saints even though it hurts to say that as a loyal Wigan fan of over 40 years. They say that the team we had in the 70s and 80s when we were relegated were bad but ths current team is THE WORST that has ever put on a shirt for the club now time for a total revamp.
I like many Wigan fans had high hopes when the 'new regime'took over in December but I have yet to see any improvement on the field.( other tahn beat Leeds!!!)
the players themselves should be asking themselves am I up to it,because quite honestly they are not, and they know who they are.
With no relegation from SL for the next 3 years give the young kids a chance what have we to loose?,certainly no SL monies and they can't be any worse that the current crop of so called 'professionals'.
So come on Mr Lenigan and Lydon take the plunge get to Australia and pay up for a decent coach after all they don't count in the salary cap and either give us a winning team or pack it in

I'm not paying two pound to say this at a forum so here goes.....

When i got to the game the usual gang asked me why I had missed the saints game. For the first time i can honestly say that staying in with my new baby girl was far more interesting. I couldn't give my season tickets away!!!

This week proved why.

Why is it that Micky Higham, the man warriors have declared surplus played with heart. Give him a new contract. NOW. Don't tell me he can't play, he tackles, he makes yards, and he plays his heart out whenever he is on the park. And forget the penalties, he doesn't give more away than anyone else.

Tommy Leuluai is another, ok he played out of position to accommodate Smith, but he put in the biggest hits, tried a few runs and again at least showed some pride.

Now the down side.

Feka. Love the big runs, but they are now few and far between. This I believe is not his fault, but down to not pushing him in training to work on stamina. A bit of CV would mean we get longer bursts, and defenses would be knackered meaning more gaps.

Fielden. Come in number 8 your time is up. Only aggressive when he wants a fight or the opposition are smaller, he takes up to much salary cap for too little return.

Coley, Mathers - waste of time.

The kids are being affected by poor performances of the seniors, even Pat missed due to indifference.

Not one man gave the 'behind the sticks' roasting that Farrell and Edwards would have given for conceding one try, let alone six!!

I can honestly say that if a crowd 'sang you don't deserve to wear the shirt' at me, i wouldn't have the nerve to walk around at the end applauding, i would be in the dressing sheds looking in the mirror and asking do i deserve to get paid, let alone wear the shirt.

I've got twenty kids at Wigan & Leigh college that would die to play for a club like Wigan, And right now I would rather pay to see them than risk humiliation next week against Hull.

Lads, TURN UP NEXT WEEK or let us

Can't wait to see BN try and talk his way out of that.
If he is to go then I hope he doesn't hang on for a payout.

I'm genuinely worried that if we make the playoffs we will get an absolute pasting, by that I mean 60 plus leaving the players that will be staying even more jaded than they are already.

Is there any truth in the rumour that EH has been spoken to? It's rife this side of the Pennines.

It was embarrassing to watch such a dreadful display. I believed that when Brian Noble took over as coach there would be a radical improvement in the team - admittedly not overnight as there were things to eb sorted - but 2008 brings another year of poor performances and an empty trophy cupboard. In 2005 Noble took over another coach's team, but now this is HIS squad, and they are worse than any I have seen in Wigan colours.

I say to Noble and a good many of the squad: shape up or ship out, there are countless others who would be proud to wear the shirt ahead of you.

Gutless was the only way I could describe that. But you have to blame the players at least as much as the coach. No coach asks a team to play as badly as that, no coach tells them to drop balls, not support the ball carriers, wander aimlessly around the pitch, or stand around with their fingers up their a***s instead of being interested in the game... It was bordering on unprofessional, since they failed to do the most basic things, and that's not to do with the coaching. They should be embarrassed to take their pay this week, with the possible exceptions of Higham, Leuluai and maybe Feka who was about the only one of our pack to run in the right direction. Noble also needs to take criticism, he's obviously failing to motivate the team, and a stronger coach would have taken our stand-off off the pitch and played Higham, Leuluai and Smith at 9, 7 and 6 respectively. Thanks to his lack of captaincy, the team were clueless and directionless, unmotivated and devoid of ideas. How ironic that the only good thing he did was our first 40/20 of the season, not that it did much good. If Hull beat Wakey to get to the Cup Final, then on tonight's form we'll be on the wrong end of a 50 point hammering next week.

I am discussed by the way our team was booed tonight I find it hard to justify booing yeah the team was very poor and I do think they need their a***s kickin also can we also stop asking for coaches heads when things go wrong too it makes me sick!!! Brian Noble needs to sort out whats going on within that team to many big names getting to much money for nothing !!! sort it Wigan.
