Wigan ran in a century in the Challenge Cup - the first since 1924 -to kick lower division Whitehaven out of the competition.
The Warriors swept to a 106-8 victory with rookie Sam Tomkins grabbing five tries on his debut, three of them in eight minutes to earn the Warriors a quarter final place at Leeds.

Trent Barrett also claimed a hat-trick to go with doubles for Harrison Hansen, Mark Calderwood and Iafeta Paleaaesina.

The Warriors crossed 18 times in total, with Pat Richards kicking over 17 goals to go with the 16th touchdown for a personal tally of 38 points.

Wigan coach Brian Noble: "The win should do the confidence a lot of good. To score 106 points against anybody is a fine achievement - but the real response and the true test will be this Friday against Warrington."

Wigan: Richards, Calderwood, Goulding, Carmont, Colbon, Barrett, Tomkins, Coley, Higham, Palea'easina, Bailey, Hock, O'Loughlin. Subs: M
athers, Fielden, Hansen, Prescott.

The other Challenge Cup quarter-finals include holders St Helens taking on Hull KR.

I am very disappointed no angry with the fiasco of the challenge cup draw. I was told the draw details at 3.45pm. What a bloody farce!! Why not just say it has been done and that is what it is, instead of saying it is being done live. The whole thing is fixed and I have no confidence in the RFL at all. What happened to it being done at the ground of the last game on the Sunday? The whole contrived thing makes Rugby League a laughing stock and the BBC are ridiculous. RL is always an afterthought with them, the poor flat cap and whippet brigade, its okay they're only thick Northerners they won't know any difference.

When did Leeds last have an away draw in the cup against a decent side?

Hope the team do realise that the real response to Cardiff will be this Friday.

some victory, if you cant beat a team at the bottom of a division below you then it's time to call it a day, the real test will be warrington on friday, they will be spoiling for a win after being dumped out of the challenge cup so we'll see if this team of 'superstars' are up for it then

Don't think you'd get any Wigan fan who would say otherwise Dave. It's not as though the Cardiff blues have been banished by this result is it? Cardiff was the breaking point for Wigan fans. Wire away was bad, Good Friday was worse but Cardiff was like the point in Buck-a-roo when the donkey flips. The players have finally pushed the supporters patience too far.
