A historian wants to trace the origins of a West Country accent – spoken by the entire population of a tiny Pacific island.
John Roberts, a former broadcaster, found all 63 inhabitants of Palmerston, one of the Cook Islands, spoke with a Gloucestershire twang, when he studied the area.
Mr Roberts wants to contact anyone who is related to William Marsters, a pioneer who h
e believes was born in Gloucestershire and settled on the island.
