In recent years it has been transformed into a seaside resort complete with sand and donkeys.
Now Wigan town centre is set to become a winter wonderland!
Keep it under your hat but nip down to the bookies and have a couple of quid on it snowing in Wigan town centre come 7pm on November 20!
Don't panic, our psychic powers have not gone into overdrive.

Town centre management has revealed for the first time they will be employing the same machinery that keeps the Alpine ski slopes slippery to ensure Wigan's Christmas lights switch-on is white on the ball this year.

Nine months before the big switch-on planning has already started for one of the biggest events in the town centre calendar.

Mike Matthews, town centre manager, said: "There are lots of different snow machines on the market these days from synthetic to paper snow but
this one delivers the real thing.

"It is going to be at the heart of the Christmas lights switch on. New products and market economies of scale make this really plausible for the first time.
"So come switch-on night on November 20 it will snow in Market Place - guaranteed."

It's far too early to say which big celebrity will turn on the lights.
There is still a lot of organisation left to do.

Mr Matthews said: "There is so much to be sorted. We need to get the sponsorship sorted out and partners brought in.
"But town centre bosses will be working with shopping centre managers to make this a really memorable event."
