Hollywood to Hollyoaks again

The actor, who was once married to Ashton-born Kym Marsh, is to return to the channel four soap this spring - after a few short stints in the US.

He was last there in September, where he tested for a show for the ABC channel and made his US movie debut in The Importance of Being Andy, where he plays a one-time TV bigshot who is now a recluse after a scandal involving a young girl’s suicide. The film is due to premiere at festivals next year.

He told Hello: “I was only meant to be there for a few weeks, but I ended up staying for two months.

“Los Angeles is a massive draw for me. Acting is something that drives me and I won’t stop until I achieve my goals. Hollywood might not be every actor’s dream, but it certainly is mine.”

Jamie was in the US when he got the call to come back to Hollyoaks and he can’t wait to return filming this week.

He said: “My life has changed a lot since I was last in Hollyoaks,

“I am going back in a completely different mindset, older and wiser. My priorities have changed. I want to be a great dad – that is my purpose in life.”

The 40-year-old, who has five-year-old daughter Polly with Kym, as well as 10-year-old Billy from another relationship, admitted he missed his children while he was away, but Skyped them a lot.

He also spoke about his split with Kym and being single.

He said: “It’s always difficult when any relationship breaks down, especially when children are involved, but Kym and I are completely committed to bringing Polly up in the best way we can. Kym and I are in a good place and she is a great mum.”

After he split with Kym, Jamie began dating model Chloe Peers, but that has since ended. He said: “I am open to the idea of getting married again, but it is not something I am thinking about at the moment. If something happens, it happens.”

He added he will be abseiling down a tall building in Manchester for Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital later this month.
