A CHARITY train trip from Wigan is offering a special deal.
The Train of Hope over the magnificent Settle and Carlisle railway next Saturday (October 1) co-organised by a borough express train driver is offering a discount ‘four passengers for the price of three’ deal.
Five railwaymen, including father-of-three Steve Griffin from Wigan, have organised the ‘steam special’ hauled by famed former LMS express steam locomotive Royal Scot Class No (4)6115 Scots Guardsman which will pick up at Wigan North Western.
All the money raised by the event will go to Virgin Trains’ charity partner CLIC Sargent, the cancer charity for children and their raffle of railwayana has already raised an amazing £7,624.
Steve and the other drivers came up with the idea of organising an event that would combine a passion for the railways with a desire to make a difference for a worthwhile cause.
Passengers get a full English breakfast on the outward journey and a five-course dinner, including wines and refreshments, on the return.
Ticket holders travelling on the Train of Hope will be able to travel First Class by Virgin Trains to and from Crewe on the day at no extra cost. There is also a raffle with some fantastic prizes.
