AN AWARD-winning comic is making his Wigan debut at the second time of asking.
The last time Irish comedian Caimh McDonnell was booked to play Ashton Comedy Club, he had to pull out at the last minute.
His excuse: he had an appointment with the red carpet after unexpectedly being nominated for a BAFTA.
Comedian and comedy promoter, Sam Brady, who runs the Ashton event, said: “I must admit, as excuses go, it’s not a bad one, but I kept asking myself what sort of person would give up a Saturday night in Ashton just to be at the BAFTAs?!”
Since their first comedy night back in May, Ashton Comedy Club has gained many fans in the town and continues to grow in popularity.
Not that Sam is complaining. He added: “I’m so chuffed that people in Ashton are enjoying having comedy on their doorstep.”
Caimh McDonnell will be supported by three other comedians on the evening of Saturday February 25 at Ashton Comedy Club at The Fleece on Warrington Road. Advance tickets are £5 and available from the Fleece, at www.AshtonComedy.com or on 0845 680 1926 between 9am and 5pm.
