A WIGAN rapper is in the running for a top national award.
A Me B, whose real name is Amy Burns is the only Northern act to be nominated for Best Newcomer at the Official Mixtape Awards.
The 19-year-old is now urging her local fans to vote for her and help her win the top spot.
Amy said: “This nomination is for the mixtape I released last year, Get Me Out This Box.
“The Official Mixtape Awards featured one of my videos on their website last year and then I noticed that I was up for nomination.
“It’s really good that I have been nominated as this was the first mixtape I released and its shown that its been recognised by people in the music industry.
“It is also a pretty big thing as I’m the only nominee from the North in my category.” Amy who is from Golborne is in the running for the award with another 19 black and urban artists from across the country.
Winning the title means the Wigan starlet will take home a trophy, she will gain the attention of industry professionals and will be featured on the Official Mixtape Awards website once again.
She added: “There will be lots of people from the music industry at the awards so winning this would help raise my profile across the country.”
Not only is Amy in the running for a music award, she has also been busy for the last few months working on a video for her single Outcast.
The video which was filmed at Victoria Baths in Manchester has been selected and added to Box TV’s playlist.
Amy added: “I’m made up my single has managed to get on a music channel.
“It’s my first single release and proper video so to be playlisted on a channel like Box TV already is great.”
Voting for the OMAs closes on March 10.
