A POP singer is dreaming of the musical big time after a meteoric year for her band.
Kay Molyneaux, one-third of girl group The Bon Bonz, has enjoyed a very successful 12 months with her two Yorkshire bandmates.
The group performed for thousands of Wiganers at the Christmas lights switch-on alongside The X Factor finalist Kye Sones, and also played for 20,000 people at a fireworks event in Yorkshire.
The release of their album Shush, meanwhile, has seen the girls’ tunes played on radio and attracted the interest of a number of record labels.
However, for former Bedford High School pupil Kay the upcoming year will be one of hard work as much as soaking up the glitz and glamour of the music industry.
Kay, 24, said: “We’ve worked really hard to get to this stage and we want 2013 to be even better.
“The Wigan lights switch-on was brilliant, and for me it was one of the best gigs we’ve done. Everyone was just so friendly backstage, and I love playing locally because people I know can come out to support us.”
Kay is also anxious to get the band involved in some charity fund-raising work this year but admits that her intended plan will involve her band mates having to face their fears.
She said: “I want to do a skydive, but the other girls are scared. We wanted to do things for charity last year, but it’s just getting it all organised alongside everything else, so hopefully we can do it this year.”
