Dance music fans will want to be in the house when a Wigan promotion pulls out all the stops to celebrate its first year on the scene.

The Northern Collective is marking its first birthday with a 12-hour marathon featuring a packed line-up of the borough’s top house music talent next month.

The promotion, run by Ince DJ Jordan Khokhar, will hold a pre-party on the new outdoor terrace at Casino de Cuba before switching to Attic Wigan for a house music marathon lasting until dawn the following day.

The promotion was founded by Jordan to give Wigan dance music performers a chance to spin the decks at venues in the borough and further afield.

The line-up for the birthday party certainly reflects the local ethos, with artists from the borough including Lewy Athers and Adam Cottom being joined by aspiring DJs from around the North West and fast-rising Manchester act Solardo headlining.

Jordan, 22, said: “The idea of The Northern Collective is to put on local DJs and give them a platform and play in an intimate but professional environment.

“Our first year has gone really well, we’ve hosted a tent at a festival and quite a few of our Wigan shows at Attic have been sold out.

“The birthday party is a real celebration of northern talent. We’ve got confetti cannons, lasers and all sorts of things so it will be done as a proper event rather than just a club night.

“We’re doing all the big festivals and Ibiza.

“It’s about taking Wigan DJs to international venues and give the northern lads a bit of a boost. We’ve got great venues up here but the scene can be quite dominated by London.”

The birthday event on Saturday, July 30, starts at 6pm at the Cuban-themed bar on Millgate before moving at 11pm to the club in King Street West venue Indiependence to continue until 6am.

The line-up brings together up-and-coming talent with artists who have performed around the world and have residencies at top Manchester dance venues such as Sankeys and Warehouse Project.

Early bird offers are sold out but fans can still pick up tickets for the birthday bash online at www.skiddle.com
