A WIGAN house music act is living the dream after rocketing up through the ranks of the region’s dance scene.

Molisè, made up of DJs and producers Ele Vibe (real name Lisa Dodgson) and Miss Molly (Molly Selby), has been filling dancefloors in its first year on the circuit with a high-octane live show.

Describing themselves as tech house but also taking cues from styles including funk, soul and Chicago house, Molisè have already secured a residency with top Manchester dance brand Bitch and will DJ the after-party following boxer Anthony Crolla’s world title bout.

Ele, who lives in Up Holland, and Newtown DJ Molly, 21, met while performing at Wigan venue The Attic and quickly realised their similar outlook and take on house music would work well in an unusual female duo format.

Ele, 27, said: “Things have taken off. There’s a lot of girls on the scene but no duos playing the sort of music we do, so Molisè is working really well.

“We just bounce off each other really well and we’ve also got a few little surprises. Sometimes we incorporate a bit of old school or trance sounds, so I’d call our music groovy tech.

“We also work well together because we’re both a little bit crazy. We both love music so much so when we’re behind the decks it’s the two of us having our own little party.

“This is a dream and we want to do more festivals and get into Europe.”

Molisè was given its name by a taxi driver, who told the two musicians struggling to find the right moniker that they should run the two names Molly and Lisa together.

The duo has recently been signed up for the prestigious Mint Festival in Leeds and can also be found performing monthly slots at Manchester’s Venus club.

Away from the dancefloors Ele and Molly are hard at work in the studio preparing their own sounds for release, with their debut singles expected this summer.

Ele said: “We’ve got a remix finished and there will be two singles as well.

“We also want to get more music out next year to get noticed by labels.”
