MUSICIANS took to the streets of Wigan town centre in force to raise funds for a not-for-profit community venue.
Bands from the 21:12 Music Community, on Swan Meadow Road, spent an afternoon busking for shoppers on the streets around Market Place to raise money.
More than 30 musicians from some of the borough’s finest up and coming acts played for around four hours, entertaining passers-by with everything from classic punk tracks to contemporary indie songs.
Their efforts raised more than £200 for 21:12, which offers low-cost rehearsal space and a programme of activities including drum therapy for alcohol and drug rehabilitation and bands which perform for residents in care homes.
21:12 co-founder Phill Knight said: “We took a risk but it was a really good afternoon and we got our message across to a lot of people.”
The next 21:12 fund-raiser is a bag pack at the Asda supermarket at Robin Park, which will take place on Saturday September 7, from 10am until 6pm.
