GREEN-fingered indie band Grassroots are on a high after recording their latest demo with a top Wigan producer.
The trio popped into Paul O’Neil’s studio at Eckersley Mill to work on their latest recording which comes complete with some heavy psychedelic rock and indie sound based on riffs combined with funky beats and melodic vocals.
Bassist Macky said: “Paul has been producing music in Wigan for more than a decade and we found it very easy working with him.
“The recording has captured the energy of our live performances and mixed it with a professional studio touch.
“The songs on this demo show a more mature approach to our writing and structuring.
“We’re now in the process of getting the music out there by contacting various labels and radio stations to generate interest.
“We’ve enjoyed working with Paul as he has a laid back no pressure approach to recording.”
The Grassroots boys have been working hard recently and are now back in the rehearsal room to start work on new material.
Macky added: “We’re now back in the rehearsal room after recording and have started work on new material and we are preparing for a busy year gigging and promoting our music.
“We can be contacted via facebook for anyone wanting to organise gigs, work with us or just keep in touch.
“Wigan has always had a good music scene, great bands are playing every week in various venues and the town is packed with sound, creative characters.
“It’s great to be a part of that and good to be back out there.”
Grassroots which is also made up of Kev on vocals and Sandro on drums will soon be appearing at the Tudor House Hotel.
On March 3, they will rock the stage with Frank’s Wild Years who return to the live music venue since their performance in December.
Macky said: “The Tudor has a top sound system and great atmosphere, we always enjoy playing there.
“It’s free entry of course and free copies of the demo will be available.”
