A RAFT of musical greats will descend On Wigan as Douglas Music celebrates its 39th season.

To introduce its Saturday Night Live Music season, Douglas Music presents a free matinee event, including a cream tea on Saturday, August 18, at Parbold Village Hall, from 2.30pm, with local pianist Tom Kimmance and players from Manchester’s Kalina Balalaika Ensemble.

People are advised to contact the Box Office to reserve a place.

On October 6, Intrada, Brass Ensemble will be playing; whilst on October 21, international and award-winning pianist Stephen Hough will be entertaining audiences.

November 21 will see Karina Lucas, mezzo soprano and Simon Lane, piano perform a tribute to Kathleen Ferrier,

Maestro jazz saxophonist Alan Barnes and pianist David Newton will be at Parbold Village Hall on December 8,

The international pianist will be kicking the new year off on January 12, as part of his 60th birthday tour, and German duo Nils Monkemeyer, and Nicolas Rimmer work their magic on February 9.March 9 sees renowned artist Andrew Wilde, on the piano and international guitarist Xuefei Yang (above) will play on April 6.
