FINAL preparations were being made today for the annual Parbold Hall charity open day.
Each year millionaire philanthropist Sir Peter Moores throws open the gates of his estate atop Parbold Hill for a fun event in aid of nominated good causes.
This year the beneficiary will be Dalton St Michael’s Church which has launched a £26,000 appeal for a new memorial garden because the current one is nearly full.
Artist Teucer Wilson has already been called in to create attractive stonework for the garden for cremated remains.
The open day takes place this Sunday, running from noon until 5pm and attractions include archery, clay pigeon shooting, a gun dog display, brass band concert, stalls, games and refreshments.
Dalton Church warden Rowland Lang said: “We are delighted that the day is for the memorial garden. All we are hoping for now is good weather and a good turn-out.”
Admission is £2 and there is ample car parking.
