A balloon launch to help raise money for a young autistic boy has raised more than £600.
One thousand balloons were set free at St Anne's Primary School, Standish Lower Ground, to raise funds for five-year-old Jack Orrell-Bancroft from Springfield.

Parents Alison Bancroft and Ian Orrell launched an appeal earlier this year to raise £3
0,000 to send Jack to America for two weeks for intensive treatment on the Son-Rise Programme which specialises in helping children with autism.

The balloons travelled as far as Holland, Germany and Lithuania. Some were returned with postcards showing the town where they were found.
The winning balloon was found in Murcia, Spain, 1,571 miles away, which belonged to former Year Six pupil Christopher Ainscough.

Alison said: "I want to pass on my most sincere thanks to Mrs Parkinson and St Anne's for all the support they have given to myself and Jack since he started school. We couldn't have asked for a better school for him. They are wonderful.

"On the whole I can say that this was a truly magnificent day made extra special by the lovely pupils."
