A couple have been left traumatised after their home was raided while they slept.
Paul and Joann Woodend, of Bankwood, Shevington, were upstairs in bed when burglars broke into their house and snatched two sets of car keys and mobile phones before fleeing in the couple's two cars.

They say they have lost £30,000 worth of vehicles and are facing a bill of around £1,500 to repair the damage to their front door, which was forced open by the robbers.

Paul, 36, a regional sales manager, said: "We thought this was a nice area, we have never had any trouble, and now this. My wife is absolutely devastated."

Along with the financial implications there is a sentimental cost too.
Paul bought the blue Ford Focus ST that was stolen in the robbery as a present for Joann, 45, when they got married in June last year.

Joann also lost a key ring that she had been using for around 20 years.
But, strangely, the burglars did not take either Paul's wallet or Joann's purse, both of which were in the kitchen and in easy reach of one of the mobile phones that was stolen.

Perhaps most shocking for the couple, however, is that although the thieves put out an outside light, forced the front door and tramped through the Woodend's house and into their kitchen, the couple heard nothing.

They only discovered they had been burgled when the following morning.
Paul, 36, said: "I'm surprised that somebody has got the bare-faced cheek to break into our house while we are asleep upstairs."

Today the couple warned others to be vigilant, even when they are at home. Paul said: "This has been done by opportunists who have looked through our window.

"I would say to people to be careful keep your keys with you."
Police were called to the scene and found that a blue Ford Mondeo estate (registration WO06 END) and a blue Ford Focus (registration B1PWW), along with the two mobile phones were stolen.
