Three men and a youth have been charged with assault following an incident in which two police officers were injured.
It is alleged the uniformed beat officers were attacked as they tried to arrest a man for breaking the curfew conditions of an Anti-Social Behaviour Order in Tanhouse, Skelmersdale, on Saturday morning.

One of the officers, a female sergeant, was left with a puncture wound to her arm after being bitten through her uniform, as well as swelling and bruising to her head, face, chin and legs.

Her colleague, a male officer, suffered a suspected broken nose and swelling and bruising to his head, upper body and legs.

Four people were arrested and charged with assault following the incident.

Luke Banke, 18, of Carlton Avenue, Up Holland, was charged with two counts of assault and with breaching his anti-social behaviour order.
James Harris, 18, of Ennerdale, Skelmersdale, Brian Evans, 28, of Elmridge, Skelmersdale, and a 17-year-old from Skelmersdale, who cannot be named for legal reasons, were charged with two counts of assault each.

Police are appealing for any witnesses and asked anyone living in the Ennerdale area or walking through Ennerdale at this time to come forward.

Contact the officer in charge of the case, DS Dave Atherton, on 01695 566001 or contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111 with any information.
