Girls' football kicks off big time in Wigan

Girls footy is kicking off in such a big way the borough's first school league could soon be formed.
Rose Bridge High started their own girls teams in September and after a few months of training the 11-15-year-olds have already played their first three games.
But there's been so much interest from other schools, organiser Nicola Fairclough is hoping to set up the borough's first girls school league.
Nicola said: "It's just gone from strength to strength.
"More and more schools are contacting me and asking to set up a game so there really is a need for the league.
"It's extremely popular with girls, a lot more than it used to be, and we've got quite a few who play for Latics' Ladies.
"It's as much about friendship as it is about fitness. Because we have four teams – one from years 7,8,9 and 10 – they interact with each other more than they normally would which is great for school morale."
The girls play six-a-side at present but as the game grows demand could see the pitch size also increase.
