Wigan Athletic will be hoping to respond to their defeat at Tottenham with a win over Sunderland on Sunday.
They have had to endure the criticism which followed the 9-1 loss.
The world's sports commentators certainly haven't held back.
Predictably, many of the early headlines focused on the scoreline – "Wigan call 999" and "Defoe takes five" cropping up in various places.
"Five for Defoe puts Spurs on cloud nine" was the Guardian's headline.
"Defoe finds the road to Wigan fear is paved with goals" was the headline in The Times.
Promising to make amends, on Monday Latics' players offered fans who travelled to White Hart Lane a refund on their match ticket.
Writers at the Chicago Sun-Times seized the gesture as a stick with which to beat their underperforming American Football team.
"Listen up, Bears: Lousy soccer team offers refunds to its fans" ran the blunt headline which accompanied their story.
Another paper dubbed Latics: "The team that comes with a money-back guarantee."
