Move over Kim and Aggie – shining star Lisa Knowles is the new cleaning queen.
The 41-year-old from Up Holland has set up her own environmentally friendly home cleaning company – after discovering that some cleaning substances were making her ill.
Envi provides a completely non toxic cleaning service to residential and business properties across the borough.
Lisa, a mother-of-two, said: "Why should people settle for a clean home, when it's so easy to make it both clean and green.
"It's amazing how many environmentally friendly products can be used to make a home a much safer and healthier place to live in."
Lisa, who lives on St Thomas' Court, works part-time in learning support for the Alternative Futures Group which provides care for people with learning disabilities .
Shortly after she had helped clean a friend's home as a favour five years ago Lisa began to feel ill and was diagnosed with fibromyalgia – a disorder which causes chronic, widespread pain and tenderness to light touch.
"I used to clean my home every day but was too weak to do it," said Lisa.
"I went to the doctors and tried many different remedies but nothing seemed to work.
"A friend of mine told me that her health had improved significantlly since she had stopped using chemical detergents, as did that of her sons.
"She had suffered with both eczema and asthma, both of which eased when she removed all of her chemical cleaning products and replaced them with natural alternatives.
"I decided to do the same thing and, within weeks, my energy levels were much higher and my problems with fibromyalgia were all but gone."
Lisa has already received glowing acclaim from her customers and is determined to make a success of Envi Home Cleaning.
She has listed some of the ways that Wiganers can live a green lifestyle on her website www.envihomecleaning.com
Lisa said: "To be honest I'm a little frightened that the idea won't take off in the way I hope.
"But I often find that people want to live a green lifestyle but are unsure how."
